Do You Have The Desire for Change?
by: Pamela Petrich
The very first thing to ask yourself, "Do I have the desire
to make a change in my life?" If the answer is yes, than
you can begin to take the steps necessary to bring about the change
you desire. Studies show that people who think positively and
view life as "the glass half-full vs. half-empty are people
who survive the throes of successes and failures. The biggest
difference between people is their attitudes. You can begin right
now to make a...
1) Commitment to yourself to think positively about your work,
family, friends and your attitude about learning in general. As
you change the way you think, you will begin to change your attitude.
Dream of success, as Henry David Thoreau said, "Go confidently
in the direction of your dreams! Live the life you've imagined!"
2) Control your thoughts by focusing on your goals. Visualize
what it is you wish to change and you will begin to see how to
make create the steps necessary to achieve your goals.
3) Challenge yourself to learn and improve each day by seeking
out new people and experiences. Remember to ask questions and
expect the best from people.
When you have adjusted your attitude for positive outcomes,
you can begin to focus on your goals and aspirations. Once you
have set your goals do not procastinate. As Denis Waitley
remarked, "Procastination is the fear of success. People
procastinate because they are afraid of the success that they
know will result if they move ahead now. Because success is heavy,
carries a responsibilty with it and requires an individual to
continue to set an example, it is much easier to procastinate
and live in the someday I'll philosophy. Winners don't live their
lives in the future safely out of sight. They set goals in the
specific, forseeable future, which gives their everyday activities
richness and purpose."
"Success is getting what you want. Happiness is wanting what
you get."
